Database Connectivity

The Database Connectivity and Mapping dialog is the starting point of the product. It allows you to define a connection to a gINT project and also to perform mapping between the gINT Civil Tools data model and gINT projects (because the gINT data model is flexible and each organization can have a different one).

Note: Selecting a glb allows you to display the values in the Properties dialog to match with the values seen in a gINT database with the same Library attached instead of using generic codes or values.

There are two main sections in this dialog: Project, which is used for defining the access to a gINT project, and Borehole, which is about the definition of the PointID table and columns.

Once a connection is made, it is by default stored in the design file and can be reused next time the DGN file is opened. It can also be saved and loaded in other files.

The following graphic describes the Project tab. This section of the dialog allows you to define the type and path to a gINT project (either a. gpj file or a SQL Server database).

To connect to an Access database, you must have the 64bit version of Microsoft Access Database Engine Redistributable.

The following graphic shows the Borehole tab. This section of the dialog is about the definition of the borehole table; what is the table name and the different columns for the boreholes. You can also optionally define the following settings:

an orientation and a plunge (even with "curved boreholes")
a set of additional properties that will be loaded with each borehole
a custom cell (symbol) for the 2d symbolization, or property-based symbolization (cell based on borehole's properties)
